Lesson 1 - Introduction - Nicole Faubert

In this course, we'll cover what you need to know about Release 16 and 17 of the 3GPP 5G NR system standard.

5G technology promises faster, more reliable, and near instant connections that will universally connect people. The number of 5G subscribers in just the first year of deployment is astounding. The 5G standards are racing to keep up with the adoption rates. Release 15 of the 3GPP 5G system standards was just getting things started for 5G, and it left many things unfinished or untouched. As we look to Release 16, 17 and beyond, there are many improvements to the standard and new ideas being introduced.

In this course, we will listen in to a discussion with 5G Programs Director, Roger Nichols on what we should expect in the next iterations of the 5G standards, such as dynamic spectrum sharing, positioning and location based services for automotive (C-V2X), and requirements for the cellular IoT.
